Being new to doing nails, both on myself and other people, I was finding it difficult as I didn't have a space such as a dining table or desk to conduct the appointments on.
I am starting to get a lot more comfortable with it now and have been self teaching on YouTube (yes it is possible and honestly the best way! I always find someone who is self taught from places like YouTube have a lot of interest and are putting their all into the task, it takes a lot of time, patients and practice but it is definitely worth it!
As I said I needed a space to be able to conduct appointments from home as I do not drive. Kyran (boyfriend) is extremely supportive and offered to buy me a portable table and fold away chairs!
We don't have a lot of room at the moment because Mia takes up 80% of the room (who knew such a tiny human could take up so much room in a house!), the fact this table is portable which can be packed away into a bag and the chairs folded and stored away, makes doing the job 10x easier because I know that if we ever do need the room I can simply up and move.
You can find a table like this on Ebay for £38! (I cannot add the link because the seller is now out of stock but there are a lot of distributers for this type of table).
The chairs are from Argos and I got a deal on the 2 for £20. They feel like really good quality, the cushioning is very comfortable and the height is perfect for the table.
I got this lamp in a Gel Polish starter set on Groupon. I actually got the idea of trying to do nails from seeing this kit and thought it was an excellent deal that was worth a try. It came with the UV Lamp (required 120 seconds for curing), 100 lint free wipes, nail prep & polish wipe, gel remover, 2 colours, base coat and top coat. This deal was incredible, all of that for around £40 (I cant remember because the deal is no longer there and it isn't in my account details sorry!)
I am using an old acrylic cosmetics storage thing to hold my polishes at the minute because I don't have a stand which actually fits them! I know it looks a little silly but I know which is which and my clients (friends) have already told me what colour they want prior to the appointment.
As you can probably see I have quite a few different brands of polish and that is because I am trying to find a brand that I love and works best for me, shows good results and is still a reasonable price. I am still testing a few brands but will do reviews and swatches as I go along on this 'journey' haha.
I love the draw for keeping my remover, polish wipe
and lint free wipes off the desk because it is such a small space so I need all
the room I can get when actually doing the nails.
I am new to doing nails so am going to document
everything and keep you along with me while I learn and develop my skills. I
will have some review posts and swatches posts coming soon, along with some
posts of clients I have done. If you want to keep up to date then please follow
me on my social media I am very active!
I hope you have a great day or night where ever you
are.
Emm xx
